Catalogs are out and registration is underway for Spring classes at The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School.
Highlights from the Active Mind section of the catalog include StopSlut! on Thursday, March 5 with activists and writers Katie Cappiello, Meg McInerney and Jennifer Baumgardner, who will discuss slut shaming and using theater to build a movement. The event will feature performers from Slut: The Play and excerpts from the powerful new book Slut; perennial favorite Celebrity Readings on Monday, March 30 – an evening of short stories being “performed” by celebrated actors John Amos, Zach Grenier and Emily Zacharias; and New Jersey Climate Change on Wednesday, April 29 with Dr. David Robinson, New Jersey State Climatologist and Professor of Geography at Rutgers University
New classes this Spring include Personal Branding and Guaranteed Retirement Income from the Business + Finance section, Beautiful Bracelets from the Creative Arts—Crafts section, Soft Pastels, Memoir Writing and Writing a Young Adult Novel from the Creative Arts—Fine Arts and Creative Arts—Writing sections and from the Fitness + Recreation and Personal Growth + Better Health sections, Zumba Gold and Overcoming Sugar Cravings.
The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School continues to expand its children and family offerings this Spring with the additions of Lights, Camera, Lego, Games of Logic, No Cook Cooking and Middle School Track with Coach Lisa Morgan.

The South Orange-Maplewood Children’s Summer Program will run from June 29-July 24 this year and catalogs will be available in March. Job applications for the program’s “Yellow Shirt” student assistant positions are available online and at the Adult School office, room A110, 17 Parker Ave., Maplewood. Applications will be accepted until February 28.
