NEWARK, NJ - The reward has increased from up to $10,000 to up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Deborah Burton, a 62-year-old grandmother from Maplewood, according to a press release that was issued on Tuesday by Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino.

Burton was fatally shot in Newark at about 1:15 p.m. on March 13, in the area of 43 Third St., and was pronounced dead at University Hospital a short time later, stated a release from Thomas S. Fennelly, Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor.

The reward is from Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crime Stoppers Program
