SOUTH ORANGE/MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Essex County starting at 7 a.m. tomorrow morning through the end of the day. Mixed precipitation is expected to make for hazardous driving conditions.
National Weather Service forecast for the area Jan. 26 includes “periods of snow and sleet before 3pm, then periods of snow, freezing rain, and sleet. High near 32. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.”
On Tuesday night, the site says, expect “periods of snow, freezing rain, and sleet before midnight, then periods of rain, snow, and sleet between midnight and 3am, then periods of snow, freezing rain, and sleet after 3am. Low around 33. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.”
