SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - In business for 30 years, the doctors at South Orange Chiropractic Center have both extensive experience and knowledge of the latest innovations in the chiropractic field.

In everything they do, the focus is clear: to optimize the health and well-being of their patients.

The first step when deciding the best path of treatment is to find out what is the underlying cause of the pain and discomfort to the patient. Whether the patient is experiencing acute or chronic pain, the underlying issues cannot be identified by pain alone but with advanced technology that provides the doctor with more information to make better decisions.

"Believe it or not, we have a crystal ball," explained Dr. Stephen Levine. What exactly is this crystal ball? It is an infrared thermal camera and thermal scan of the spine, which the doctors use to find hot and irritated nerves. Once these areas are identified with the scan, the doctors can treat the area of inflammation before it becomes painful, said Dr. Levine.

South Orange Chiropractic Center offers complementary scans, and treatment is often covered by insurance. If yours is a chiropractic case they will tell you, if not, they will tell you that too.

"Healthcare is failing today because it's chasing pain and symptoms, and not the root of the problem," said Dr. Levine, adding that too often patients are looking for a quick fix which in reality it is not a fix but only a patch. "Ideally, if we address the true root of their problem the pain will go away."

Dr. Mark Roczey said that the practice has seen an increase in patients suffering from "text neck," and that cell phone use in general has added to the number of patients they see who have general alignment issues in both the neck and the back.

Chiropractic care can also help in many cases find the cause and work to resolve shoulder pain, leg pain (sciatica), headaches, and back pain.

Both Levine and Roczey are dedicated to the future health of their patients, stressing how important it is that once the patient is treated for the specific ailment that brings the patient in for treatment, that they continue to make life style changes that lead to their future health and wellness

"How we eat, how we move, and how we think," all impacts our overall health, said Levine. "Educating the person on a better future, a better quality of life, is one of the things we concentrate on at the South Orange Chiropractic Center."

In keeping with this philosophy, the center hosts ongoing lectures and informational events. On Wednesday, August 16, at 7 p.m., there will be a complimentary 30-minute Yoga Workshop led by Tonia Moore of South Orange.

"You need to be proactive to be healthy," stated Levine. "I always say be healthy by choice, not by chance. Too many people leave it to chance."
