SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The annual South Orange Halloween Festival was held Monday afternoon in "Spooky" Spiotta Park.  A costumed crowed came out for music and games, trick-or-treating at area merchants, and for the Halloween costume contest.

Matt Glass, President of the South Orange Village Center Alliance (SOVCA), welcomed all, followed by a few remarks from Steve Schnall, South Orange Village Trustee and their representative to the SOVCA. Schnall spoke on behalf of the trustees and South Orange Village President Sheena Collum, who was unable to attend the event due to illness.

Although many of the participants where dressed as popular characters like Darth Vader and, Spiderman, there were also a large number of homemade costumes, many which were winners in the costume contest.

The costume contest was judged by Steve Schnall; Bob Zuckerman, Director of the SOVCA; Weichert realtor Natalie Farrell, a supporting sponsor of the event; and Joe Loiacono of South Orange Pharmacy, also a supporting sponsor of the event.

Winners included: Twenties Flapper Dancer, Poison Ivy, Alice in Wonderland, Three Amigos Ghosts, The Wizard of Oz, The Simpson Family, Mr. Popcorn, and Email Server. A cupcake costume was the winner for best homemade costume. Winners received gift certificates which were donated by various South Orange restaurants and merchants.

The Halloween Festival was sponsored by the SOVCA, Sparkhouse Toys, South Orange Pharmacy and Natalie Farrell, Weichert Realtor.
