South Orange Police Blotter as of July 17

Warrant Arrest - Bhavya Uppal, a 24 year old Metuchen resident was arrested on Tuesday, July 11, at approximately 9:18 a.m. for an outstanding arrest warrant out of Paterson. Officers stopped Elsayed, who was driving a 2011 Nissan for a motor vehicle violation on W. South Orange Ave.  At the scene, a record check revealed the active arrest warrant.  Officers arrested Uppal and transported him to headquarters where he was processed accordingly.

Burglary to Auto - A Grove Rd resident reported that between 6:00 pm, Monday, July 10 at 7:25 am, and Tuesday, July 11, actor(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the driveway at the time, rummaged through the interior and removed some loose change.

Burglary - An Irvington Ave. business owner reported that between 3:30 p.m., Sunday, July 9 and 8:45 am, Monday, July 10, actor(s) unknown smashed a rear window to gain entry and removed various items from the office. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Burglary to Auto - Arrest - Jamaar Hicks, a 29 year old Newark resident, along with a juvenile accomplice were arrested on Saturday, July 8, at approximately 12:15 am for burglary (to auto). Officers responded to a call on South Orange Ave. (just east of SHU) for a report of a male breaking into a vehicle. Officers quickly responded and stopped two subjects who matched the caller's description. After further investigation, officers determined that the two subjects were the actors involved in the incident. Officers arrested Hicks and took the juvenile into custody. Officers transported both to headquarters where they were processed accordingly.

Burglary to Autos - Residents of Hillside Place, Seton Place, and Coudert Place reported their vehicles were burglarized between Friday evening, July 7, and Sunday morning, July 9. In all cases, the vehicle's doors were unlocked and the proceeds were anything that could be quickly removed (cash, wallet, change, a navigation device, etc.) and carried by hand.

Auto Theft - A Longview Rd. resident reported that between 6:35 p.m. and 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 6, actor(s) unknown stole his vehicle (2016 BMW), which was parked in front of his residence at the time.
