South Orange Police Blotter as of September 22

Attempted Robbery - A 19 year old resident of South Orange stated that he was walking into his apartment complex on Prospect St. on Tuesday, September 20, at approximately 11 p.m. when two actors followed him inside the premises and demanded he turn over his wallet. The victim stated that one of the actors brandished a small silver handgun while demanding his property. When the victim stated that he had no money the actors turned and fled the scene. The actors are being described as two black males, one actor was tall and slim with a dark complexion and was observed to be wearing a blue and white shirt with jeans and the second actor was approximately 5'9" in height, brown skinned and was observed to be wearing black shorts, a white bandana and white shirt. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
 
Theft of bicycle - A Centre St. resident stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of Monday, September 19, an unknown actor had entered her unlocked garage and removed a 21 speed Marin Townie bicycle. The bicycle was recovered approximately two blocks away.

Suspicious activity - A Waverly Pl. resident stated that on Tuesday, September 20, at approximately 9:30 she discovered that some actor(s) had removed a ladder from under the deck and placed it up on top of the deck in what may have been an attempt to gain access to her roof.

Stolen vehicle/arrests - Mohammad Atiq a 24 year old Carteret resident along with Mohammad Khan also 24 years of age and a resident of Carteret were both arrested on Tuesday, September 20, at approximately 9:50 a.m. after an officer on routine patrol discovered they were operating a stolen vehicle. Officers arrested both subjects after the subjects returned to the stolen vehicle which they had parked on Village Plaza. The vehicle, a 2002 Toyota was reported to have been stolen out of Carteret. Both subjects were transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft of bicycle - An Elm Ct. resident stated that sometime between 5 p.m. on on Monday, September 19,  and 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, an unknown actor entered her garage via an unlocked door and removed a white Beach Cruiser style bicycle.

Theft from vehicle - A Mercer Pl. resident stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of Tuesday, September 20, an unknown actor(s) had entered two of his unlocked vehicles and after ransacking the interior removed a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses from one vehicle.

Burglary to vehicle - A Varsity Rd. resident stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of Tuesday, September 20, an unknown actor(s) had entered his unlocked vehicle (2015 Toyota) and ransacked the glove box. No items were believed to be stolen.

Burglary to vehicle - A Kingsland Ter. resident stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of September 20 an unknown actor(s) entered his unlocked vehicle (2012 Fiat) and ransacked the interior. No items were taken.
