South Orange Police Blotter as of January 23
Attempted Burglary - A Redmond Rd. resident reported on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at approximately 4:50 p.m., actor(s) unknown smashed a window of the residence in an attempt to gain entry. This triggered the residence's alarm and police responded quickly. No entry was gained and the detective bureau responded to process the scene.
Burglary - A Hillside Place resident reported that sometime between 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15 and 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, actor(s) unknown entered the garage of his residence and rummaged through his belongings. It does not appear anything was taken at this time.
Adult Arrest - Burglary - Hasheen Sanders, a 37-year-old East Orange resident was arrested by SOPD detectives on Jan. 18, after their investigation revealed that he was the subject responsible for several recent burglaries, including one that occurred on Harding Drive on Jan. 11. Sanders gave a statement to detectives and he was processed accordingly. Additional charges are to follow as other investigations continue.
Auto Theft - An employee of a Teaneck contractor reported on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at approximately 2 p.m., actor(s) unknown stole his company's van (2014 Ford) while it was parked on Randolph Place. Several thousand dollars worth of plumbing tools and supplies were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Police were able to quickly track down the vehicle through the company's GPS service and the vehicle was recovered in Newark.
Adult Arrest - Rochea Hodges, a 41 year old Newark resident, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at approximately 3 p.m., for receiving stolen property after detectives believed he was the actor involved in an auto theft (2014 Ford Van) that had occurred 60 minutes earlier. Detectives arrested Hodges without further incident and transported him to headquarters where he was processed accordingly.
Adult Arrest - CDS - Ana Matamoros, a 22 year old Union resident, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 16, at approximately 9:11 p.m. for possession of CDS. Officers stopped Matamoros for a motor vehicle violation at the intersection of South Orange Ave. and Riggs Place. The on scene investigation revealed that she was in possession of CDS (marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. Officers arrested Matamoros without incident and transported her to headquarters where she was processed accordingly.
