South Orange Police Blotter as of March 2
Warrant Arrest - Isaiah Cook, a 21 year old Newark resident, was arrested on Thursday, March 2, at approximately 1:45 a.m. for an outstanding arrest warrant out of East Orange. Officers responded to a noise complaint at an Irvington Ave. address where two men (Cook, along with Isaiah McClain, a 28 year old Newark resident) were involved in an argument. After further investigation at the scene, officers arrested Cook for the active warrant and transported him to headquarters where he was processed accordingly and issued summonses. McClain was negative for wants and warrants. Officers issued McClain several summonses and subsequently sent him on his way.
Burglary to Auto - A Lakewood resident reported on Monday, Feb. 27, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., actor(s) unknown smashed the front passenger's side window of his vehicle (2013 Lexus), which was parked on Stanley Rd. at the time and removed a small coin pouch.
Adult Arrest - DWI - Marquize Bassett, a 29 year old East Orange resident, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 26, at approximately 10 p.m. for DWI. Officers stopped Bassett, who was driving a 2001 Infiniti for a motor vehicle violation at the intersection of South Orange Ave. and Centre St. After further investigation at the scene, officers suspected that Bassett was operating his vehicle while under the influence and he was subsequently arrested without further incident. Officers transported Bassett to headquarters for processing and impounded his vehicle.
Adult Arrest - CDS - George Smith, a 24 year old Beachwood resident, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 26, at approximately 6 p.m. for possession of CDS (marijuana). Officers observed Smith, who was parked illegally on Sloan Street, sitting in his vehicle with marijuana and CDS paraphernalia on his lap. Officers arrested Smith without further incident and transported him to headquarters where he was processed accordingly.
Warrant Arrest - Dennis Mickens, a 52 year old East Orange resident, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 24, at approximately 3:53 p.m. for an outstanding arrest warrant out of the Essex County Sheriff's Department. Officers stopped Mickens after several residents reported a suspicious person who was soliciting door to door in the area of Reynolds Place. During the stop, officers determined that there was an active arrest warrant for Mickens and he was arrested without further incident. Officers transported Mickens to headquarters, where he was processed accordingly.
