South Orange Police Blotter as of May 30

DWI/arrest; Carlos Sampedro, a 36 year old Jackson Heights, NY, resident was arrested on May 29, at approximately 8:50 a.m., after officers discovered the subject sleeping behind the wheel of his running vehicle while it was parked up on the curb on Turrell Ave. During the on-scene investigation it was discovered by the officers conducting same that the subject had been operating his vehicle while under the influence. As such, the subject was arrested at the scene, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

DWI/arrest; Robin Smith, a 38 year old West Orange resident, was arrested on May 29 at approximately 9:05 p.m., after officers responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Third St., and while investigating the accident determined the subject to be intoxicated.

Burglary/warrant arrest; Quadir Anderson, a 19 year old Irvington resident, was arrested on May 28, on an open warrant issued out of South Orange for the offense of burglary to a dwelling which occurred on Redmond Rd. Forensic evidence recovered at the scene of the residence by the investigating detective lead to the subjects identification and subsequent warrant. The subject was processed accordingly for the offense and transported to the Essex County Jail in Newark.

Stolen vehicle/arrests; Jalil Woodley-Mitchell, an 18 year old Orange resident, was arrested on May 28, at approximately 7:35 p.m., along with three other juveniles when the stolen vehicle he was operating struck another vehicle at the intersection of East Clark/Montrose Ave. All four suspects who fled the stolen vehicle (2009 Hyundai) that was stolen out of the City of Orange were apprehended by officers after residents notified police headquarters that the subjects were observed hiding in adjacent rear yards. All four subjects were transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft of vehicle; A Cottage St. resident stated that sometime between 8 a.m. on May 25 and 9 a.m. on May 26, an unknown actor(s) had removed his vehicle (2007 Honda) which was parked in his driveway. The victim stated that a spare key to the vehicle had been left inside.
