South Orange Police Blotter - Multiple Arrests

Adult Arrest - CDS - Christina Jade Borrel, a 19 year old New York City resident was arrested on Sunday, July 2, at approximately 6:00 pm for possession of CDS (marijuana). Officers responded to a call of a female subject walking on Sloan St. smoking a marijuana cigarette. Officers were able to quickly locate the subject (Borrell) and after further investigation officers determined that she was in possession of the marijuana.  Officers arrested Borrell without incident and transported her to headquarters where she was processed accordingly.

Adult Arrest - CDS -Tatiana Green, an 18 year old Plainfield resident was arrested on Saturday, July 1, at approximately 7:26 p.m. for possession of CDS (marijuana). Officers stopped a blue Subaru Outback for motor vehicle violations on Walton Rd. and Thornden Dr. After further investigation during the motor vehicle stop, officers determined that one of the passengers in the vehicle (Green) was in possession of the marijuana, CDS paraphernalia and a bottle of alcohol. Officers arrested Green without incident and transported her to headquarters where she was processed accordingly.

Adult Arrest - DWI - Marlon Melgar-Lopez, a 28 year old Newark resident was arrested on Sunday, July 2, at approximately 9:50 p.m. for DWI. Officers stopped Melgar-Lopez, who was driving a Silver Mazda for motor vehicle violations on Scotland Road. After further investigation during the stop, officers determined that Melgar-Lopez was DWI. Officers arrested Melgar-Lopez and transported him to headquarters where he was processed accordingly. 

Adult Arrest - Shoplifting - James Mitchell, a 48 year old Newark resident was arrested on Saturday, July 1, at approximately 4:28 p.m. for shoplifting and additional charges. Officers attempted to stop a subject (Mitchell) who matched the description of an shoplifting suspect who on Tuesday, June 27, stole 4 cases of energy drink from the 7-11 store on Valley Street. Mitchell refused officers' commands to stop and attempted to flee.  After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend Mitchell and transported him to headquarters where he gave detectives a statement admitting to the shoplifting. Officers processed Mitchell and he was charged accordingly.

Burglary to Autos - A Harrison Ct. resident reported that between 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, and 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, actor(s) unknown entered two of his vehicles (2008 Toyota and 2016 Toyota), both of which were parked unlocked in his driveway at the time. Nothing appears to have been taken from either vehicle and neither vehicle was damaged.

Juvenile Arrest / Bicycle Theft - Two Newark juveniles were taken into custody on Tuesday, July 4, at approximately 4:57 p.m. for stealing two bicycles that had been parked outside the 7-11 store on Valley Street. After receiving the call of the thefts, officers quickly located the two juvenile subjects and both were taken into custody without further incident. Officers transported the juveniles to headquarters where they were processed accordingly.

Theft of Bicycle - A Ward Pl. resident reported that between 2:12 p.m. and 3:12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, actor(s) unknown stole his bicycle (red and white, men's Trek mountain bike), which was left secured with a lock outside the front entrance to the South Orange Library.

Theft of Bicycle - A Newark resident reported that at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, actor(s) unknown stole his son's bicycle (a white, black and blue, boy's BMX bike), which was left outside the main entrance to the South Orange Library.
