South Orange Police Blotter - Multiple Burglaries Reported

Adult Arrest - Burglary - Joe Carr, a 22 year old Newark resident, was arrested on Sunday, July 30, at approximately 2:26 a.m. for burglary. Officers responded to a call from a Kingman Rd resident for a burglary in progress and upon arrival arrested Carr, who had been subdued by the homeowner, without further incident. Officers transported Carr to headquarters where he was processed accordingly.

Burglary - A Lenox Ave resident reported that between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, actor(s) unknown entered his residence, ransacked the interior and stole about 40 watches andnumerous pieces of jewelry. The detective bureau is investigating the incident.

Burglary - A Church St. resident reported that sometime between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, actor(s) unknown entered his unlocked garage and stole two bicycles. One is a maroon, Men's 10 speed Trek bike and the other is a small purple Schwinn mountain bike.

Burglary - A College Place resident reported that sometime between 5 p.m., Friday, August 4, and 8:45 p.m., Sunday, August 6, unknown actor(s) entered his residence and removed numerous pieces of jewelry, a personal computer, a video gaming console and several video games. The detective bureau is investigating the incident.

Burglary - A Montrose Ave. resident reported that between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday, July 16, actor(s) unknown entered his unlocked detached garage and stole several power tools worth a couple thousand dollars. The detective bureau is investigating the incident.

Burglary to autos - Actor(s) unknown burglarized several vehicles between Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 15, at multiple locations throughout town. In all incidents, the vehicles were unlocked and the actor(s) rummaged through the vehicles and stole mostly loose change.

Juvenile arrest - Officers arrested several teen-aged juveniles on Saturday, July 15, at approximately 11:30 p.m. for possession of CDS (marijuana). Officers stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation at the intersection of Valley St. and Hixon Pl. After further investigation during the traffic stop, officers discovered the CDS and took the juveniles into custody.  They were transported to headquarters where they were processed accordingly.

Criminal Mischief - A College Place resident reported that sometime between 10:30 p.m., Saturday, August 5, and 9 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, actor(s) unknown smashed the driver's side window of his vehicle (2009 Subaru). However, it does not appear that the actor(s) entered the vehicle, as nothing was taken from the vehicle and there was no further damage.  

Burglary/Auto Theft - A Warwick Ave. resident reported that between 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 16 and 7 a.m. on Monday, July 17, actor(s) unknown entered the front foyer of her residence, removed the keys to her vehicle (2015 Toyota) and then subsequently stole the auto.

Assist Other Agency - On Tuesday, August 8, at approximately midnight, officers assisted Orange PD with the arrest of two juveniles who were suspected of burglarizing a vehicle within their jurisdiction near Warwick Ave. Orange PD notified police headquarters of the incidents and provided a description of the subjects.  Officers responded to the area and quickly located two young males who matched the description given walking along Warwick Ave.  The subjects attempted to flee from officers. However, after a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended both of the subjects in question. Orange PD responded and took custody of the juveniles.

Adult Arrest CDS - Daizhanee Lee, a 24 year old Ewing resident, was arrested on Monday, August 7, at approximately 10:10 p.m. for possession of CDS (marijuana), paraphernalia and active arrest warrants. Officers stopped a vehicle (2011 Chevy) for a motor vehicle violation at So. Orange Avenue and Trenchard Place.  After further investigation at the scene, officers determined that the vehicle's passenger (Daizhanee Lee) was in possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia.  Officers arrested Lee and she was transported to headquarters, where a records check revealed two active arrest warrants out of Verona. Lee was processed and charged accordingly.

Attempted Bicycle Theft - A resident of Gas Light Commons on West Third Street reported on Friday, August 4, at approximately 7:07 p.m. that she observed an unknown actor attempt to steal her bicycle from off of the second floor balcony of her residence. The actor (described by the victim as a young, skinny, 6'-1", black male who was wearing a white T-shirt and shorts) threw the bicycle off the balcony and then jumped off himself when she yelled at him. The actor then fled east on W. Third Street without the bicycle and police were unable to locate him. Nothing else was taken during the incident, but the bicycle's seat was damaged from the fall.

Adult Arrest - Shoplifting - Isaiah Edmond, a 24 year old Newark resident was arrested on Friday, August 4, at approximately 2:12 p.m. for shoplifting. Officers assisted a Rite-Aid security officer chase down a shoplifter who had fled the Rite-Aid without paying for merchandise. After the brief foot pursuit, officers arrested Edmond without further incident and transported him to headquarters where he was processed accordingly.

Arrests - Theft - Shyron Giles, an 18 year old East Orange resident, along with two teenage juveniles were arrested for theft on Thursday, August 3, at approximately 6:10 p.m. A South Orange resident stated that three unknown actors took her backpack off a bench while she was in Memorial Park on Valley Street. The actors fled towards the train tracks and then headed south. Officers responded and stopped three subjects who matched the victim's description of the actors. After further investigation, officers determined that the three subjects were the ones involved in the theft. Officers took all three into custody and transported them to headquarters where they were processed accordingly.

Warrant Arrest - Omar David, a 41 year old Irvington resident, was arrested on Monday, July 31, at approximately 9 a.m. for outstanding arrest warrants out of South Orange. Officers responded to Sloan St. on a call of an aggressive panhandler and quickly located the subject. A record check revealed the active warrants and officers arrested David without further incident and transported him to headquarters to be processed accordingly.

Adult Arrest - CDS - Hector Godinez, a 20 year old Newark resident, and Ulalee Parchment, an 18 year old Maplewood resident, were arrested on Sunday, July 30, at approximatley 6:21 p.m. for possession of CDS (marijuana). Officers stopped a 2000 Toyota for motor vehicle violations on Hart Drive North.  After further investigation during the stop, officers determined that both the driver (Godinez) and passenger (Parchment) were in possession of the CDS.  Officers arrested the subjects and they were processed accordingly at police headquarters.
