South Orange Police Blotter - Two Arrests

Warrant Arrest - James Hill, a 54 year old South Orange resident, was arrested on Wednesday, March 15, at approximately 7:30 p.m. for several, outstanding out-of-state arrest warrants. An off-duty South Orange Police Department officer, familiar with the BOLO for the subject, observed Hill get into his vehicle while it was parked in front of a store on Irvington Ave.  Police units immediately responded to the area and arrested Hill without further incident.  After being processed at headquarters, police transported Hill to the County Jail in preparation for extradition.  

Burglary - Several renters who live at a residence on Tichenor Ave. reported that each of their respective rooms were burglarized sometime between 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 7 and 1 p.m., Sunday, March 12. Collectively, numerous pieces of electronic equipment (various video game consoles, controllers, and video games), headphones as well as some other personal items were reported stolen. It appears the actor entered through a bathroom window and most likely exited through the front door. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Burglary to Auto - A Sparta resident reported that between 3:11 a.m. and 4:34 a.m. on Monday, March 13, actor(s) unknown smashed the driver's side rear window of his vehicle (2010 Ford) and rummaged through the interior of his vehicle, which was parked overnight on Fairview Ave. Nothing appears to have been taken at the time of the report.

Auto Theft - A Woodland Place resident reported that between 11:59 p.m., Saturday, March 11, and 10:16 a.m., Sunday March 12, actor(s) unknown stole his vehicle (2002, Dodge Ram), which was parked in his driveway at the time. Several thousand dollars worth of tools were in the bed mounted toolbox of the vehicle at the time the theft occurred.

Juvenile Arrest - A 16 year old juvenile was taken into custody on Friday, March 10, at approximately 10:30 p.m. for possession of alcohol and CDS (marijuana). Officers walking foot patrol on Sloan Street observed a juvenile male with a bottle of alcohol and stopped him to inquire about his age. During the on scene investigation, officers determined that the male was only 16 years old and in possession of alcohol as well as marijuana. Officers took the juvenile into custody and transported him to headquarters for processing.
