Dear Friend and Neighbor,
This past weekend, our cadet members took home the gold at the 4th Annual Bayshore EMS Cadet/Youth Competition. Our youth members are a reflection of the volunteers and services of the South Orange Rescue Squad. Our mantra is Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and we're thrilled to celebrate their victory, because their success is our success!
We at the South Orange Rescue Squad truly appreciate the generous support we have received from residents in South Orange, Maplewood and the surrounding communities throughout the past 65 years. From fundraising to community events, the members of our community have been supportive of us from the beginning, and for that we are grateful.
However, we need your help to continue serving our communities.
Our aging fleet of vehicles has made it more challenging to assist the community, and we have made it our goal to buy a brand new ambulance by the end of the year. Your contribution will help us achieve this goal, and your generosity will be reflected in continued service to the residents of South Orange and the surrounding communities.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today.
We are currently on pace to answer over 1,300 calls this year. Each responding ambulance crew includes a minimum of two state-certified Emergency Medical Technicians, usually assisted by one or more additional crew members. On average, it takes less than two minutes for our crews to be on the road in response to your call. All of our members are volunteers—nobody is compensated for either their EMS or administrative services. We are an independent non-profit corporation, whose ambulances, equipment and supplies are funded and maintained with only donations. Our volunteers contribute over 18,000 on-duty hours per year.
In closing, we ask that you remember that we are an all-volunteer organization, which does not charge for our services. Your support will allow us to continue to provide emergency medical services to the residents of South Orange and Maplewood on a volunteer basis.
