SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - South Orange Village will be selling a lot on Lindsley Avenue at auction this Wednesday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at the South Orange Municipal Offices (76 South Orange Ave., Suite 302), according to an update on the municipal website.
The property -- Block 2111, Lot 18, commonly referred to as 215 Lindsley Avenue -- is located in the Residential B zone. The minimum bid is set at $125,000, and the property will be sold to the highest bidder, "with a reservation to reject all bids," stated the website update, which also included that the property is being sold because it is "not required for municipal purposes."
The property is being sold in "as is condition." More details about the sale requirements can be found here.
According to Ellen Faye Maglieri, Purchasing Agent for South Orange, the property is abandoned and has been vacant for multiple years, and in arrears on taxes. An attempt was made previously to conduct a tax lien sale, which was unsuccessful, and the property reverted to town ownership.
The property is in a residential neighborhood, and not suitable for any municipal purpose, stated Maglieri.
Lindsley Avenue runs between S. 4th Street and Irvington Avenue, and is between Waverly Place and Wetmore Avenue.
