MAPLEWOOD, NJ — This early fall weekend, lots of events will be happening on Springfield Avenue which are social distancing friendly:
On Friday, Sept. 25, Maplewood is celebrating a new business. The ribbon cutting for Joe Canal's Discount Liquor Outlet will be at 1:45 p.m. at their location, 1830 Springfield Avenue.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., an outdoor retail market will be at Yale Corner. Come shop safely with both retail stores on Springfield Avenue and local makers and vendors offering their wares for sale in a spacious outdoor market. In addition, the Springfield Avenue Partnership will have maps of local restaurants for dining or takeout.
A self-guided mural walking tour will be available on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Based on one of the SOMA on the Move walking route that highlights the five murals along Springfield Avenue, the “tour” will be self-guided with maps available at 1978 Arts Center, the Gazebo outside Hilton library and at each of the mural sites. Many muralists will be near their creations to speak about them. All participants must wear masks and practice social distancing when at the murals and speaking with the artists.
