MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery of a Maplewood woman sitting on her own porch.

Maplewood police report that late Wednesday night, shortly after 11 p.m., a 45-year-old woman sitting on her porch on Jacoby Street was physically overtaken and had her purse and wallet stolen. The victim sustained what appeared to be minor injuries from being punched several times in the face, for which she received medical treatment.

The suspect, a short black male around 18 years of age wearing what appeared to be a blue hooded sweatshirt, fled on a BMX style bicycle in the direction of Irvington. The incident happened a block from Springfield Avenue close to the Irvington border.
