MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Michael Summersgill, who was the Republican candidate for the Maplewood Township Committee, addressed an issue he felt had been continuously neglected by the Maplewood Township Committee on Saturday November 5-- the restoration of a polluted creekside.

Maurice Briefer, a local WWII Veteran, asked the Township Committee at the October 4 meeting to help clear a heavily obstructed creek behind his home. After the issue was left unresolved by the committee, Michael Summersgill took on the responsibility of arranging the clean up.

Summersgill was supported my local Boy Scout Troop 5 and coordinated with Scoutmaster Roger Brauchli to arrange the clean-up day.

“As a former scout, I knew once I connected with Troop 5 the job would get done,” said Veteran Maurice Briefer. “I am extremely appreciative of their help.”

Summersgill also received a donation of equipment, trucks, and dumpsters from Dave Kasdan of Kasdan Construction & Management.
