SOUTH ORANGE AND MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The South Orange Maplewood School District (SOMSD) updated families today by email about PARCC testing in the district, which began on April 4, and continues until April 29.
The email from SOMSD stated that, "the first week of testing went smoothly, with only a few minor issues."
However, on Tuesday. April 20, there were technical issues that prevented some students from taking the PARCC as scheduled. The vendor that hosts the PARCC testing service, Person, had systems which "became overloaded," and according to the email from the SOMSD, "some teachers and students were unable to log in as a result."
The students who were able to login, completed the PARCC exam as scheduled today. "Students who were not able to participate on the PARCC exam today [April 20] will be rescheduled as appropriate," the email stated.
The full PARCC testing schedule is here.
During the 2014-2015 school year, 767 students throughout the SOMSD district did not participate in PARCC testing, which is approximately 22% of all students in grades 3 to 11.
