SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — The South Orange Parking Authority has entered into a contract with the parking payment app Park Mobile. Village President Sheena Collum made the announcement during yesterday’s streaming Board of Trustees meeting.

The new provider was needed after the previous provider, Mobile Now, ceased operations suddenly in May. The app provides for coin-free, contactless parking payment.

“The app will be available at over eleven hundred on street and off-street parking spaces throughout South Orange,” said Collum. “During the current COVID-19 health crisis, we encourage drivers to use the app to pay for parking instead of touching the meter.”

Collum noted that she has already downloaded the app and it “looks like the functionality is amazing.” She also noted that the app is available for use “in many more locations in New Jersey and across the country” than was Mobile Now. Park Mobile also has “24/7, 365 customer service and additional payment options like PayPal and Apple Pay,” she said.
