SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Police arrested three juveniles after they reportedly tried to rob a Seton Hall University student on Sept. 14, according to the university’s Student Affairs office.

The student told police he was walking near the intersection of Ward Place and Irvington Avenue around 8 p.m. when he was surrounded by the three youths, who demanded his money. One suspect produced a long, shiny object. The student said he resisted and the three fled on foot. They were arrested near the Ivy Hill apartments. The victim was not injured, according to the university report.

In an email to the campus community, the Student Affairs office said that no PirateAlert notification of the incident was issued because the suspects were quickly apprehended. “PirateAlert is used as a means of timely warning when a threat may be continuing, or danger is still present,” the email said.
