MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Maplewood Township Committee member Nancy Adams invited all the women from Maplewood and South Orange who were at the Township Comittee meeting on Tuesday night to stand together with her for the reading of the proclamation delcaring March Women's History Month in Maplewood. Once assembled, Adams read a short history of the efforts by the suffragettes to gain the right for women to vote.

Adams then began the reading of the proclamation, inviting those women who are currently serving, or have previously served, as elected officials in South Orange and Maplewood, to read portions of the proclamation, with Adams reading the last part.
