NEWARK, NJ - The Essex County Prosecutor's office is asking for the public's assistance in identifying two persons of interest in connection with the murder of Deborah Burton of Maplewood earlier this year, according to a release on Thursday from Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose.

Burton, age 62, was fatally shot in Newark on March 13 at about 1:45 p.m. in the afternoon, on 3rd Street. Burton had just driven a family member to work.

Burton's car, a 2002 4-door gray Chevy Cruz, was recovered at 65-67 North 7th Street the next day, according to the release from Laurino and Ambrose.

Two different women, who can be seen in the photos here, were captured on video surveillance. The women are believed to be carrying Burton's Coach purse, which can be seen in a photograph here as well.

Detectives in the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are seeking help from the public in identifying the women featured in these photos or any information regarding the homicide.

All information will be kept confidential. The Essex County Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and/or conviction.
