MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Stephen Wesley, who has dementia, went for a walk at 6:45 this morning and has not been seen since. His family is understandably extremely worried.
“He just wanders,” said his daughter, Michelle Wesley. She said his usual walking routed include Valley Street toward East Orange or toward Maplewood Village. “He could be anywhere.”
Stephen has white hair, stands 5' 10", 140 pounds, and is probably wearing blue jeans, a navy coat, and maybe a ski hat, also navy. The Maplewood, South Orange, and East Orange police departments have been notified are on alert.
“He walks with a shuffle, head down,” his daughter said. He lives on Oakview in Maplewood, but his daughter cautions that because of the dementia, “he may say he doesn't live there.”
If you see him, please call the Maplewood Police Department, 973-762-3400, and Michelle Wesley at [removed for privacy].
UPDATE at 2:25 p.m.: Stephen Wesley was found and the family thanks all those who helped look for him.
