WEST ORANGE, NJ — Members of the West Orange, Livingston, North Essex, Maplewood, Millburn/Short Hills and South Orange Chambers of Commerce mingled amongst each other at a multi-chamber networking event on Sept. 13, hosted by the West Orange Chamber of Commerce (WOCC) at the Thomas Edison Museum.
Michael Daniels, president of the WOCC, said the event was extremely successful in its mission to provide an opportunity for members of these different chambers to “mix and mingle” and to “build new relationships.” The event, which attracted an estimated 55-to-75 guests, will be held every three-or-four months and will rotate host chambers.
“It was an excellent turnout, we’re glad the weather cooperated and the venue has been outstanding,” said Daniels. “It was a great opportunity not only to mix and mingle, but also to experience the culture of West Orange. I would recommend that people stay in contact with their local chamber for the next event.”
WOCC member Rick Brill of Advantage Termite and Pest Control said the event was successful in that he was able to make new contacts that would be beneficial to his own business while also enjoying the food provided by West Orange’s downtown. He also reiterated Daniels’ appreciation of the Thomas Edison National Historical Park, stating that the facility is welcoming but often underutilized.
Terri Jung, assistant superintendent at Thomas Edison National Historical Park, said the facility was happy to host the event, She added that the Thomas Edison National Historical Park hosts many public events throughout the year, including special programs for the community as well as working closely with the Downtown West Orange Alliance and inviting local students to the laboratory.
“It’s always great for us to have partners and partner organizations come here and see what’s here,” said Jung. “So many people that live close by have never been, so we love to share the site, we love to have our partners come here and see what we have to offer and go back and bring others here.”
