SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -  The woman who was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train near the South Orange station on Monday, April 18, has been identified. A New Jersey Transit spokesperson confirmed that the deceased is Penny Malek, age 32, of Short Hills.

Details of the accident were not released, and the New Jersey Transit spokesperson stated that further information would not be available until the Regional Medical Examiner's office released their report.

Malek was struck and killed by an eastbound train at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday. There were no injuries to train crew or passengers on board the train as a result of the accident, and train service was suspended and then delayed throughout Monday evening.
