MAPLEWOOD, NJ - A 26-year-old woman was followed, struck and robbed on Saturday night, according to Maplewood police.
On Oct. 29 at about 9:30 p.m., a woman was walking west on Springfield Ave. from Boyden Ave., when she saw a man standing in front of her wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a scarf covering his face, stated a release from Maplewood police.
When the woman began to cross the street, the man followed her, yelling out to her to stop and threatening her, stated Maplewood police. The man then "grabbed her purse and struck her before fleeing east on Springfield Ave. with the purse," said police.
The Maplewood Fire Department evaluated the woman, who refused medical attention.
This is the second robbery in less than two weeks in Maplewood; on October 19, a 24-year-old woman reported being robbed while waking to her car on Fernwood Rd. Click here to read more.
