MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Claudine Baptiste and BCB Community Bank are the recipients of the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce 2019 Distinguished Service Award.
Baptiste is a branch manager and business development officer at BCB Community Bank and is responsible for two branch locations located in the Maplewood and South Orange markets. She works directly with the community that she has gotten to know throughout the years.
Baptiste has been a resident of Maplewood for over 24 years. She graduated from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair with her B.S. degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in business management and international studies. When Baptiste isn't working in her office, she is out in the community directly involved with a variety of local non-profit organizations and groups. These include both the South Orange and Maplewood Chambers of Commerce where she serves on the Board of Directors.
Baptiste also serves on the Senior Advisory Committee for Maplewood Township, the Maplewood Rotary Club as their president elect, and the South Orange Lions Club as their treasurer. Baptiste is an active member of the West Orange and North Essex Chambers of Commerce and is a former member of the Millburn/Short Hills Chamber of Commerce.
Baptiste and BCB have participated in and sponsored a number of events in town including HOLA Fest, Maplewood Chili Cook-off, SOMA Film Festival, Affair of the Heart, Cougar Booster Golf Outing, MayFest, SOMA Book Festival, XRootsFest, Play Day, South Orange Invitational, SOPAC Annual Gala, KinderSmile, Pretty in Pastel, Under Cover Music Festival, Lunar Festival, Columbia High School Scholarship, First Night and others. Her many volunteer activities over the years include support of the YMCA, The Elks Club, various Maplewood event committees and more. Baptiste enjoys working at BCB Community Bank and takes great pride in serving her customers. In her spare time, Baptiste enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with family.
The Maplewood Chamber of Commerce award dinner is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 6:30 to 10 p.m., at the Maplewood Country Club.
