Maplewood Police Blotter - Arrest in ATM Robbery on August 29

August 24 - Burglary Attempts; During the daytime hours, damage was done to the door of a home on Tuscan St. and to the door of a home on Wellesley St.  In both cases the damage was found by the homeowners when they returned home. At approximately 4 p.m., 44 year old Cornelius Hayes of Irvington was arrested after attempting to gain entry to a home on Franklin Ave. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and was also charged with burglary.

August 29, 2017; Robbery; At approximately 5 a.m., three male juveniles attempted to take money from a 66 year old male who had removed money from the Bank of America ATM on Jacoby St. The victim was able to push the males away and contact the police. One of the juveniles, a 15 year old from East Orange was arrested after being stopped in Irvington a few minutes later. The additional two juvenile suspects, age 14 and age 17 of East Orange, were identified through investigation and were arrested on September 5. The victim did not sustain any injuries. August 21 - Theft From Auto; During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked on Brown St was entered. Keys and an ATM card were reportedly stolen.

September 4 - Burglary; During the overnight hours a vehicle and garage at a residence on Hillcrest Rd were entered and several tools were stolen.
