South Orange Police Blotter as of Nov. 9

Warrant Arrest - Masiah Bynum, a 20 year old South Orange resident was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at approximately 1:30 p.m. for two outstanding arrest warrants out of Pemberton Township. Detectives, who were familiar with Bynum and previously aware of the active warrants observed him walking along Irvington Avenue. Detectives confirmed the arrest warrants through headquarters, stopped Bynum and arrested him without incident. Officers responded and transported Bynum to headquarters where he was processed accordingly.  

Burglary to Auto - A South Orange Avenue resident reported that sometime between, 9:00 and 11:00 pm, Monday, Nov. 5, actor(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle, rummaged through the interior and stole two nursing bags, a black Coach brand bag and her Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Theft of Auto - A Valley Street resident reported that sometime between 12:00 pm, Sunday, Nov. 4, and  7:00 am, Monday, Nov. 5, actor(s) unknown stole his vehicle (2003 Dodge Ram), which was parked in the rear lot of his residence.

Theft of Auto - A Hixon Place resident reported that sometime between 11:30 pm, Saturday, Nov. 3, and 8:45 am, Sunday, Nov. 4, actor(s) unknown stole his vehicle (2005 Dodge Ram), which was parked in front of his residence.

Adult Arrest - Burglary to Autos - Rodney Cauthen, a 55 year old Orange resident was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 2, at approximately 8:50 pm for  multiple burglary charges along with several other crimes. Officers responded to Longview Road on a call of a suspicious person who appeared to be attempting to enter parked vehicles. Officers located a subject, who matched the description given by the witness, rummaging inside of a parked vehicle on Longview Road and stopped the subject as he attempted to flee the scene. After further investigation, officers arrested the subject (Cauthen) without further incident. During a search incident to arrest, officers found several items in Cauthen's possession from two other burglary to auto incidents (Longview Road and Great Hills Drive) that had just been reported as well as a large knife. Officers transported Cauthen to headquarters for processing and charged him accordingly.  

Attempted Burglary - A Foster Court resident reported that sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 3:05 p.m., Friday Nov. 2, actor(s) unknown attempted to enter her residence by smashing a small windowpane to the right of the front door. No entry was gained and detectives responded to process the scene.
