South Orange Police Blotter as of Nov. 4

Warrant Arrest - Verdelle Jackson, a 40 year old Orange resident was arrested at 11:15 am, Thursday 11-1-18 for an active arrest warrant out of South Orange. Detectives responded to Jackson's residence to serve the outstanding warrant and once detectives made contact, they arrested her without incident. Officers transported Jackson to headquarters where she was processed accordingly.

Robbery -  A South Orange resident reported that at approximately 8:55 pm, Wednesday 10-31-18, two unknown male actors robbed him of his apartment keys while he was walking on Milligan Pl. near Prospect St. The victim described the actors as young, black males and stated they fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was not physically injured and the detective bureau is investigating the incident.

Adult Arrest -  James Wise a 20 year old South Orange resident was arrested on Wednesday, 10-31-18 at approximately 5:26 pm for trespassing. Officers responded to Seton Hall University for a trespasser call and stopped the subject (Wise) at the main gate of the university. Officers arrested Wise without further incident & transported him to headquarters for processing.  At headquarters, a records check revealed the outstanding warrant and Wise was charged accordingly.

Burglary to Auto - A Ward Pl. resident reported that sometime between, 7:00 pm Wednesday, 10-31-18 and 8:30 am Thursday, 11-1-18 actor(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the interior, though nothing appears to have been taken at this time.

Criminal Mischief -  A Berkeley Ave. resident reported that at approximately 8:35 pm, Wednesday 10-31-18, an unknown group of juveniles knocked over and smashed a glass Halloween ornament that was outside his home. The group then fled the scene before the victim could get a more detailed description.  

Criminal Mischief A So. Stanley Rd. resident reported that sometime between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm, Wednesday 10-31-18, unknown actor(s) damaged her vehicle, which was parked in front of her residence at the time. It appeared the actor(s) jumped on the trunk, roof & hood, which shattered the windshield & caused extensive damage.

Criminal Mischief - A Second St. resident reported that at approximately 7:05 pm, Wednesday 10-31-18, unknown actor(s) threw eggs at his house. The victim could not provide any further details or information and a search of the area for the actors was negative.

Burglary to Auto - A Montague Pl. resident reported that sometime between, 3:00 pm Tuesday, 10-30-18 and 7:30 am Wednesday, 10-31-18 actor(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle, rummaged through the interior and stole a box with clothing inside.

Burglary to Auto - A Walton Ave. resident reported that sometime between, 4:00 pm Sunday, 10-28-18 and 2:30 pm Tuesday, 10-30-18 actor(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle, rummaged through the interior and stole a pair of Apple earpods.

Burglary to Auto - A Thornden St. resident reported that sometime between, 10:00 pm Monday, 10-29-18 and 3:30 pm Tuesday, 10-30-18 actor(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the interior, though nothing appears to have been taken at this time.

Burglary to Auto - A Waverly Pl resident reported that at approximately 6:17 am, Sunday 10-28-18 he observed an unknown male actor inside his neighbor's vehicle and when confronted, the actor fled the scene. Nothing appears to have been taken from the vehicle at this time.

Burglary to Auto - A Fielding Court resident reported that at approximately 3:55 am, Sunday 10-28-18 he heard a noise coming from his yard and observed an unknown male actor wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans inside his vehicle. When confronted, the actor ran and was able to flee the scene. Police searched the area, but could not locate the actor.  Nothing appears to have been taken from the vehicle at this time.

Burglary to Auto - A Warwick Ave resident reported that at approximately 10:50 pm, Saturday 10-27-18, he observed an unknown male actor, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt run out of his driveway. The resident checked his vehicle and noticed a passenger door was open and ajar. Nothing appears to have been taken from the vehicle at the time of the report.

Criminal Mischief - Two Ward Pl residents reported on Saturday morning, 10-27-18 that sometime during the overnight hours, actor(s) unknown smashed a terracotta plant holder at one address and a decorative pumpkin at another address nearby. There was no other damage reported.

Recovered Stolen Auto - Officers and detectives responded to Van Ness Pl in Newark on Thursday, 10-25-18 at 12:40 pm to recover an auto (2016 Lexus) that was reported stolen on Wednesday, 10-24-18. Officers impounded the auto and brought it back to headquarters to be processed.

Auto Theft - An Orange resident reported that on Wednesday, 10-24-18 at approximately 8:22 pm, his vehicle (2016 Lexus) was stolen while it was parked (engine running) in front of Buy Rite Liquors on Valley Street. According to a witness, a white 4 door vehicle was traveling south on Valley Street and made a U-turn after it passed the parked Lexus. The vehicle then pulled alongside the Lexus and a young, black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt exited the sedan, jumped inside the Lexus and drove away, north on Valley Street and then east on Roland Ave. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Adult Arrests/Shoplifting - Two Orange residents, Lakiesha Herrill, 47 years old and Calvin Lacosta, 43 years old were arrested on Wednesday, 10-24-18 at approximately 9:45 pm for shoplifting. Officers responded to Ashley Market on South Orange Ave for a call and quickly located the suspects who had just fled the store and were running east on South Orange Avenue near Vose Ave with a store employee chasing them. Officers stopped both suspects (Herrill and Lacosta) and arrested them without further incident. Officers transported Herrill and Lacosta to headquarters where they were processed and charged accordingly.  At headquarters, a records check revealed multiple active arrest warrants for Herrill out of South Plainfield and Newark.

Shoplifting - Employees of the Stop & Shop on Valley Street reported that on Wednesday, 10-24-18 at approximately 6:05 pm, an unknown male actor concealed merchandise on his person and ran out of the store when confronted by store security. The actor is described as a black male, dark complexion, about 5'-07" in height, wearing a back jacket over a green hooded sweatshirt and black sweat pants. The actor was last seen running up the stairwell that leads to Valley Street and then east up Roland Ave. Officers responded and searched the area but could not locate the actor.  

Burglary to Auto - A Milligan Pl resident reported that sometime between 10:00 pm, Monday 10-22-18 and 6:00 am, Tuesday 10-23-18 actor(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, rummaged through the interior and stole loose change, a credit card and an iPhone 7.

Burglary to Auto - A Grove Terr resident reported that sometime between 7:30 and 8:40 pm, Tuesday 10-23-18 actor(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle, rummaged through the interior and stole her Michael Kors brand handbag, which contained her identification, credit card and iPhone 7.

Burglary to Autos - A Prospect Pl resident reported that sometime between Saturday, 10-20-18 and 12:00 pm, Sunday 10-21-18 actor(s) unknown entered two of her unlocked vehicles, which were parked in the driveway, rummaged through their interiors and stole two pairs of sneakers, loose change and a dashboard camera.
