The Future of Landscape Maintenance: Clean, Quiet and Profitable

Medical experts, community, and business leaders to speak at Maplewood land care workshop

Maplewood, NJ. With its finger on the pulse of advancing technology, the Township of Maplewood, non-profit, Quiet Communities, and the American Green Zone Alliance is hosting The Future of Landscape Maintenance: Clean, Green, and Profitable for regional municipalities, landscape companies, schools, and residents. The Workshop will focus on alternative solutions based on advancing electric technology and the leaders who are already implementing them in municipalities, universities, and even golf courses.

While the media and state and local governments are focusing on the importance of transitioning from gas-powered cars to electric cars, the proliferation of industrial grade gas-powered mowers and handheld equipment around schools, homes, and parks is an immediate concern to medical and environmental leaders because of their ground level ozone, fine particulate emissions, and loud noise. Much like technological advancement in electric cars, electric lawn and garden technology is at the point where it is practical and cost-saving in many applications. A transition to electric equipment by commercial landscaping companies and others will reduce carbon, toxic air pollution and noise, making communities safer, cleaner, and quieter.

Presentations and Q&A led by health, business, campus, and community leaders will be followed by a hands-on demonstration of the latest commercial grade electric battery-powered equipment. The Speaker Roster features Dr. Leonard Bielory of NJ’s Clean Air Council, Dr. Lucy Weinstein, Chair of Long Island Chapter’s Environmental Health Committee, Dan Mabe, President of the American Green Zone Alliance; Sheila Pautsch from the city of South Pasadena – the first in the nation to be maintained with all-electric equipment – and other leaders.

The workshop will be held Tuesday, October 17, 9 am−1:30 pm at The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd, Maplewood, NJ). Pre-registration is $30; walk-in registration will be $35 at the door, doors open at 8 am. Tax deductible sponsorships are also available.

Quiet Communities is an independent national nonprofit organization, Quiet Communities providing research, education, and outreach and working with the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) to bring on-the-ground solution-based programs to the Eastern US. AGZA is the global leader in sustainable zero-emission grounds maintenance strategies, offering the AGZA Service Provider Accreditation program and the AGZA Green Zone® Certification program.
