Open Door Nursery School's Tenth Annual Sip & Shop

On October 12, Open Door Nursery School will host its Tenth Annual Sip & Shop, a holiday bazaar that supports the school and our community. A $10 door fee will give attendees access to this exciting event and will treat them to delicious bites, good wine, and a showcase of extraordinary gifts. The event will be held at the Woodland in Maplewood, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Local retailers and independent merchandisers will sell art, stationery, home goods, accessories, jewelry, children’s gifts, and much more. Most vendors will accept cash, credit card, or personal check, and will donate 10 percent of their proceeds to Open Door. Among a few of the returning vendors are Wildtree, with specialty spices and sauces, Usborne Books, with its creative line of children’s books, and Jake’s Gems, with stylish jewelry and accessories. Debuting this year is Erin Go Paint, the art of Erin Rodgers Pickering, a local watercolor artist.

A highlight of the event is the silent auction. Too many to mention, on the block this year are a wide variety of desirable items, including tickets to several popular events such as an evening at the Metropolitan Opera House, a PGA Tour event, a WWE match, and four tickets to see the 2016 Major League Baseball World Series Champions, The Chicago Cubs. In addition, it will feature The Riveria Black Patent Clutch by Christian Louboutin, several Kate Spade items, a family mini photo shoot, brunch for eight by your own personal chef, interior styling services, boxing lessons from a middle weight champion, and an art history lesson at the Museum of Modern Art.

“The Sip & Shop evening is Open Door’s biggest public fundraiser of the year. Funds raised go toward updating classroom facilities, providing ongoing enrichment activities for students, ongoing staff development, and purchasing new play equipment, says Open Door Director Alethea Randazza. "It’s an important night for us, and we are always grateful for the overwhelming support of our neighbors and friends from the community and surrounding towns.”

The Board of Trustees of the Community Coalition on Race seeks racial equity, integration, and excellence in education for all students in our schools.
