PAR 440 Restaurant and Lounge: Hunter Hayes

Hunter Hayes, a singer and sax player, (not the country artist) was born Douglas Hayes Pinkney in the town of Montclair, New Jersey.

In 1951, he was raised in the church and at 15 a minister gave him an Old silver "C" Melody Saxophone which he taught himself to play by ear. He practiced and learned fast. In 1968 at 18 years old, he and his band, "The HotLine" were signed to De-Lite Records along with Kool & The Gang and GQ.Those were the years Hayes says he truly learned how to be an entertainer and how to write and arrange his own original songs. When Hayes left De-Lite in late 1976, he went back to his roots, "The Church" and by the mid 1980s, Hayes went solo performing live, recording and writing songs.

It turned out to be a hard juggle to do both, but In late 1986 and 1987, he made a deal with Island Records and recorded two very good "House" records called, "Are You Wid It" and"This Time" which got a lot of New York Radio Play.

Hayes appeared at The Paradise Garage In New York City,The Mecca Of House Music and literally brought the House Down. Hayes was one of the first artists to play a saxophone "Live Onstage" with his tracks. In 1990, he got signed to "Columbia Records".

It was a great feeling at first, but they wouldn't let him write my own songs. So after a year with no hits, plus a bad contract and money issues, it was over. Sony let Hayes go. Hayes had to start all over again. That's when Hayes decided to handle his own career and write his own songs. In 1991 Hayes put his writing skills to work and wrote the theme song for a TV show called "Due Process," which has since won seven Emmy awards and still airs twice a week on NJN. Hayes used his gifted voice and sax to record his latest CD on his own Label called "Hunter Hayes Music.: The CD is called - ("It's A Wonderful Life") His Big Hit On iTunes ,CD Baby, Amazon & Tune Core. is called . . . "Spanish Love Song".

Hayes has not been afraid to sing and speak the truth about controversial subjects such as racism, marriage and child abuse ! Listen to his song ," Don't call me Y.T. , and His Gospel CD " In My Fathers House" . . and " Colors Of Freedom.

For live shows and performances, one entrée per person minimum for table service.
