SOUTH ORANGE NJ  — South Orange Village Center Alliance has announced the 2019 Downtown After Sundown live music concerts along with the new event sponsors for this season.

The free concerts run every Friday and Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. in Spiotta Park and on Sloan Street in the South Orange Gazebo. Running from Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Downtown After Sundown Concert Series features both local groups and regional bands performing during the entire 15 week season. Each show usually consists of two sets with a break in between.

Because North Jersey region has so many talented people, we are fortunate to have a summer long platform to enhance the thriving local music scene and showcase the wealth of professional and emerging musicians in the heart of downtown South Orange.

Returning bands and new performers to our two outdoor venues branded as Sounds In Spiotta Park and Jazz On Sloan. In addition to regular concerts a few new highlights this year are the addition of a 12 - 19 piece Big Band every month, more musician participation with 6 jams / open mic nights and and multiple audience participation events.

New event sponsors include the New Jersey Performing Arts Center Community Engagement Producers - NJPAC,  the New Jersey Jazz Society organization NJJS.org and the Rutgers institute of Jazz Studies. Their participation has directly increase the level of professionalism in our 2019 Downtown After Sundown season.
