The main festival will begin Wednesday, March 20 at 6 p.m. at The Woodland and will launch with an evening of feature films from local filmmakers Michael Wechsler, Rachel Fisher, and Hannah Rafkin.
Thursday, March 21, will bring legendary filmmaker, actor, voice-over artist Frank Oz to Maplewood with his documentary "Muppet Guys Talking." Oz will be on hand for a Q & A to follow with the program beginning at 8 p.m.
The "Welcome Party" for filmmakers, sponsors, and fans will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 22, with a screening and Q & A to follow.
The rest of the program will be finalized in the coming weeks and will be announced but guaranteed programming includes the popular Kids, Cinema Ed Teen, and Locals Shorts Program will all be on display as well as films (long and short) from around the country and world.
SOMA Film Festival has also partnered with Seton Hall University to offer free tickets to a unique night that blends cinema and music, as silent films will be scored live by musicians. This event will take place on March 19 at 7 p.m. at Seton Hall.
Friends of the Festival VIP Passes are now on sale for $75-85.
