SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Lumie Salon had its ribbon cutting this weekend on Valley Road. 

Lumie's owner, Kosia Asiamah, has been in the hairdressing industry for 22 years. She said she's very excited to launch her first salon on her own.She said her expertise is color, cuts, and "everything when it comes to hair." Originally from Ghana, she worked for 17 years in New York City before moving to New Jersey. 

South Orange Trustees Walter Clarke, Bob Zuckerman, and Donna Collier attended with Village President Sheena Collum and South Orange Village Center Alliance director Julie Doran. The stand-alone location was formerly home to Zen Pets.

Collum was especially excited to help open this business, as Asiamah is her personal hair stylist. Collum said she already had an appointment booked for next week. "My full, voluminous hair will be a result of Kosia," she said with a smile.
