SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Saturday’s Hometown Holiday Celebration at the South Orange Firehouse was a hit with dozens of families. Santa and his elves took over a bay in the fire station for the afternoon. As to be expected, some children loved the wonder of Santa Claus and some children were just not having it. At all.

This year, to highlight many of the South Orange businesses, SMALL BUSINESS BINGO cards were passed out at the Meet Santa event. The event runs throughout December; play for a chance to win a prize basket valued at over $1,000.
For more information and directions for participation, visit the SOVCA website.

The Elf Parade at 4:30 brought in Santa to the village. Mayor Sheena Collum reminded everyone to shop local and bring reusesble bags — the township ordinance ending the distribution of plastic bags starts Jan. 1 — then she started the countdown to the tree lighting. The event was sponsored by The Lichtman-Rabney Group at Hearth Realty and co-produced by the South Orange Village Center Alliance and South Orange Dept. of Recreation & Cultural Affairs.
