SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - One River School of Art and Design in Millburn in conjunction with Catherine Fisher and Founders Park Conservancy are proud to unveil our community mural in Founder’s Park, in South Orange, New Jersey. The artwork that inspired the mural was created by students of the school, as they were asked to draw an image that evoked nature. Alexis Barckley, artist and instructor at One River Millburn, then compiled all of the student images into the beautiful mural and transferred it to the wall with the help of her colleagues, Tim Brown and Assistant Director Kristin Stazzone. The mural was painted during a community event held on Saturday, September 7th that was attended by members of the South Orange community as well as students and staff of One River School.
“Murals are known to build a sense of community, and that is what we wanted to encourage with this creation. We want the artwork to be a welcoming feature of this beautiful park, and spark creativity in everyone who passes by.” - Erin Champion, Director of One River School in Millburn.
