MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Free "Movies in the Park" are planned for Wednesday, July 18, and Thursday, August 23, a program hosted by the Maplewood Police Department in conjunction with the Maplewood Recreation Department, the Maplewood Office of Cultural Affairs, SOMA Film Festival and SOMA Municipal Alliance.

The movie on July 18 will be The Incredibles, shown in Dehart Park, and the movie on August 23 is Minions, show in the Memorial Park Amphitheater. 

In addition to showing a movie, festivities both nights include a bouncy house, a magician, a face painter, popcorn, drinks, and games for children, according to event organizers.

The schedule for both of the Movies in the Park events is as follows:

  • 6 p.m.: festivities begin and games (a bouncy house and various games for children)
  • 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.: magician performs
  • A brief message/video from MPD and the Community Service Bureau
  • 7:45 p.m. (approximately) the movie will begin

Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, and no alcohol is allowed.
