FRIENDS OF S O PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNUAL BOOK SALE
Books fuel our society and the best part is that they are better the second, third, fourth...time around. Saturday, June 8 from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday, June 9 from 10 am to 3 pm residents of South Orange and the surrounding towns get the wonderful opportunity to participate in this process of mixing and passing on. It all happens at the Baird, 5 Mead Street, South Orange.
It begins with you, our friends and neighbors. Spring cleaning? Have your libraries taken over your house? Book Donation Days are Wednesday, June 5 from 10 am to 3 pm and Thursday, June 6 from 2 pm to 7 pm. The books should be dropped off at the Baird. There will be volunteers to receive the books. Perhaps you could stay an hour or two to help.
However, there are limits to what we can use. We are unable to accept encyclopedias, textbooks, computer or other manuals; VHS, DVDs, CDs, or Vinyl; mildewed, dirty, wet or falling-apart book. Luckily, all books donated to the Green Bin outside the Library earn money as well!
Then the fun starts. For two days everyone can browse an amazing collection of books and choose from old friends and new adventures. As an expression of our gratitude members of Friends and teachers shop early! Join or renew before the sale and come for an hour of early shopping at 9 a.m. Saturday! Teachers, bring your I.D. and stock up your next year’s classroom library!
Back to volunteers. If you want to help, please contact the Friends at firstname.lastname@example.org or for more information visit our webpage ww.friendsofsopl.org.
These sales fund the purchase of books for the Library and support children's activities, foreign language books and the always-popular free museum passes.
The Friends thank Sonny's Bagels and Trader Joe's Millburn for their in-kind contributions.
See you at the Baird.
