SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - West Third Street between The Mews and Gaslight Commons flooded after heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon, causing South Orange police to secure the area.
South Orange Village President Sheena Collum wrote on her Facebook page at about 2:30 p.m.,: “South Orange residents please be advised to stay off the roads if you can as we are experiencing flooding in lower areas of the Village. Our departments are working cooperatively with one another to relocate equipment and it's likely you will start seeing roads barricaded off by our Police Department if they are deemed a safety hazard to drivers. Our river is also at capacity. Please be safe and pass along.”
According to the PSE&G outage map, 384 customers in Maplewood and less than 5 customers in South Orange were without power on Tuesday afternoon. Estimated time of restoration is between 6:45 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. in Maplewood and 12:45 a.m. in South Orange.
