MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Marketspace Vendor Events is partnering with the Township of Maplewood and the historic venue The Woodland on a highly anticipated handmade holiday market. Handmade Holiday at The Woodland takes place on Sunday, December 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to the public with free admission.

“We’ve had tremendous success in bringing a new light to the retail landscape with our artisan markets. We know the days of mall shopping are gone, and consumers prefer to see their dollar go back into the local community. That is why we partner with well-established venues and beloved downtowns to showcase the local artist or ‘mom and pop’ maker. We strive to create an immersive shopping experience that celebrates hyper-local small business,” says Marketspace founder, Kim Kraemer.

Handmade Holiday at The Woodland will feature a curated selection of New Jersey artists and makers, offering a shopping experience that hones in on an appreciation for the arts.

“When we were approached by some of the artists in our community about continuing the tradition of a holiday market at The Woodland, we knew we couldn’t let them down. Most of our new venue contracts come to fruition through the suggestions and connections of our artisans. One of our SOMA locals made the introduction and we were fortunate that both the township and staff at The Woodland met our proposal with such excitement. The event is open to artists by invitation only, but many who have exhibited at past events in the South Orange-Maplewood area are reaching out and we are getting their applications in front of our committee to honor that SOMA connection,” Kraemer continued.

“We are thrilled to partner with Marketspace Vendor Events to bring this holiday market to Maplewood,” said Andrew Fishman, who manages the Office of Cultural Affairs for the Township. “It is a perfect match for the communities’ sensibilities,” Fishman continued. Markets of similar caliber in Maplewood have historically drawn customers in droves, so the hosts are hopeful for a strong turnout.
