SOUTH ORANGE, NJ The South Orange Chamber of Commerce celebrated the start of the fall season with a Social and Business Networking event hosted by Bunny’s Sports Bar. In addition to enjoying time to network over food and drinks, the South Orange Chamber also made a donation of $1000 to the South Orange Lions Club. This donation was made specifically towards the South Orange Lions Club goal to raise $5000 to send to the Lions Club International Foundation for distribution to offset the emergency needs of people in both Texas and Florida who were recently affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
With the Chamber’s donation, the Lions are well over halfway to reaching their goal. The South Orange Chamber holds a number of Social and Networking events throughout the year in various venues around South Orange.
The South Orange Lions Club has been active in this community since its incorporation in 1961. For over 56 years, this non-profit organization has been supporting causes related to curing and preventing blindness worldwide, plus engaging in related activities such as supporting camps for blind children and donating insulin pumps for needy persons with juvenile diabetes and more.
The Lions were at the South Orange Health Fair providing screenings for eye diseases using state of the art electronic cameras. The club has been successful in discovering detached retinas and saving unaware people from the potential of blindness.
The South Orange Lions Club is asking local residents to help them meet their goal. Checks can be made payable to, and delivered or mailed to, South Orange Lions Club c/o Elaine Harris, Esq., 177 Valley Street, South Orange, NJ 07079.
