SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - South Orange is hot! New Jersey Monthly magazine announced on Tuesday that South Orange is the winner of its "Hot Town Showdown," a contest which began with 16 towns vying for the title.
The bracket-style competition started with 16 contenders, with South Orange reaching the finals by defeating Glen Ridge in Round 1, Denville in Round 2, and Weehawken in Round 3. The final match-up was against New Providence, with South Orange emerging the winner.
"From the outset, South Orange blew the doors off the competition, consistently coming in first overall in every round. That trend continued into the Championship Round, when it defeated runner-up New Providence," stated New Jersey Monthly in its article on the winner.
New Jersey Monthly describes South Orange as having "diverse architecture, historic landmarks and more than 1,400 gaslight lanterns, which give the Essex County village ample character. In addition, residents and visitors enjoy a lively downtown bustling with shops and entertainment."
