SOUTH ORANGE and MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Fast winds and a severe thunderstorm are anticipated Thursday afternoon, the Weather Service said.
At 12:28 p.m., the National Weather service issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 4 p.m. and a wind advisory in effect until 8 p.m.
Forecasters predict winds from the west of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph, the hazardous weather outlook said.
The Weather Service advised the public to use extra caution when driving and to secure outdoor objects.
The weather advisory applies to northeast New Jersey, including Essex County and surrounding areas.
