MAPLEWOOD AND SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - With a winter storm warning in effect until 7 a.m. on Monday, March 4, and 5 to 8 inches of snow expected according to the National Weather Service, there are multiple cancellations and delays in the SOMA area.
Here are the latest announcements:
South Orange Maplewood School District
South Orange Maplewood Schools will be closed on Monday, March 4.
All after school and evening activities are also canceled. This includes The Parenting Center's evening presentation of Screenagers.
The school district had previously announced a delay, which was changed to closed at about 5 a.m. on March 4.
- Recycling is cancelled for Monday, March 4. The next recycling pick-up will be Monday, March 11.
- Jitneys will run as scheduled.
- There is no overnight parking on snow covered streets, and residents are asked to move their vehicles as to not impede snow removal operations throughout the storm.
Sunday night into Monday travel is highly discouraged. If you have an on street parking permit, please move your vehicle to the nearest municipal lot (preferred lot during a snow event is the Third and Valley Garage levels 4 and 5).
