We are writing to share our enthusiastic support for Carey P. Smith for a seat on the South Orange Maplewood School Board.

We have had the good fortune to know Mr. Smith for the past 20 plus years, and we know him to be an excellent listener who fully considers options before making important decisions.  He will bring his vision, expertise, and dedication to this district’s public schools.  Speaking as a person of color, we know first hand that he wants every child in these towns to have the same support and success that he desires for his two children.

Mr Smith is a committed and loyal individual who has volunteered on the South Orange Rescue Squad and is currently a member of the Millburn Short Hills Volunteer First Aid Squad.  He is an extremely knowledgeable and dedicated individual to any organization and or group that he becomes a member of.  We have full faith that he will put in 1000% effort as a board member if elected.

Carey is one of a few individuals in this election that does not come with an agenda, but rather a pledge to listen to the needs of parents and children in the school district, also to act appropriately upon those interests.  He is skilled at making things happen and effecting change when change is needed, and we all know serious changes are needed in this district.

Carey P Smith will make an excellent member of the Board of Education.  We urge you to vote for Carey in the upcoming election.
