MILLBURN, NJ - Currently at the Paper Mill Playhouse is a musical stage adaptation of the original 1973 Academy Award-winning film, The Sting, which starred Robert Redford and Paul Newman. The same two parts are played on stage by Harry Connick, Jr and J. Harrison Ghee. Connick and Ghee, along with the other principal players and the ensemble, sing and dance and Connick plays the piano all the while plotting and planning how to take down Kid Twist, a gambler and con man in Chicago.
In the end they do create a plot that allows them to take it all from Kid Twist in a scene where several play dead to complete their task.
There are many scenes that elicited lots of laughter from the audience and ended with a standing ovation.
“The Sting” continues through April 29 at Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn. For tickets, call 973-376-4343 or visit papermill.org.
