A tornado warning has been issued in Essex County.
The warning from the state's Office of Emergency Management says:
"The Office of Emergency Management is closely watching the passing storm. A Tornado Warning has been issued and higher than expected winds are present. Please stay indoors if possible. Trees and powerlines may be affected. If you see any powerlines come down please report them to PSEG at: 1-800-436-PSEG (7734)."
In South Orange there have been no reports as of 9 p.m.Tuesday night of downed trees or power lines, according to South Orange Village President Sheena Collum.
In Maplewood, Mayor Vic DeLuca said he had no reports of downed trees or power lines as of 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
